SETTING UP THE AUTOMATIC STEAM CHUFFER  (MISTY) THIS HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO FIT INSIDE A 00 GAUGE DUMMY TENDER OR BOX WAGON

This is the same set of instructions that you are supplied with

You will find the following enclosed with your package

1 x PP3  Battery

1 x circuit board with the following wires attached to it, one pair of green wires these connect to the engine wheels/track see below .one small loudspeaker /one slide switch on long  wires including screws to mount in a convenient place to turn the unit off & on and 1 pp3 battery snaps to connect the battery too

There are only two things to worry about first you have to find away of connect the green wires to the wheel pickups as this will sense the track voltage some wagons /coaches have lights in then and these could be connected there or straight from the motor bogie if you can.

Some LGB wagons have connection sockets for lights and these wires can be inserted in there 

The next item is to set the track detection voltage.
on the circuit board there are two controls see FIG 1 to identify the one that synchronises the chuff rate to the train speed  a small screwdriver or a nail file or something similar to fit in the slot on the adjusters don’t try to use something to big as this will cause them to be damaged

USE THE STEPS BELOW TO CORRECTLY SET UP YOUR CHUFFER UNIT.

1. IT IS FAR EASIER TO SET THIS CHUFFER UNIT BEFORE IT IS PUT INTO THE TENDER/WAGON

2. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR TRAIN CONTROLLER IS TURNED TO THE LOWEST SETTING AND THE LOCO /ENGINE THAT YOU WHAT TO FIT IT IN IS THE ONLY ITEM ON THE TRACK.

3. TEMPORARY CONNECT THE THIN GREEN WIRES FROM THE CHUFFER TO THE TRACK WHERE THE WIRES COME FROM THE CONTROLLER THESE MAY BE A PUSH FIT TYPE OR SOME OTHER CONNECTION.

4. CONNECT THE BATTERY TO THE BATTERY CONNECTOR & TURN THE CHUFFER UNIT ON WITH THE OFF/ON SWITCH.

5. ALL THAT SHOULD BE HEARD IS JUST HISSING STEAM DON’T WORRY IF IT’S QUITE AS YOU CAN ALTER THE VOLUME LATER.

6 TURN UP THE POWER ON YOUR TRAIN CONTROLLER UNTILL THE LOCO JUST STARTS TO CREEP ALONG NOW USING A SMALL SCREWDRIVER (NOT PROVIDED TURN THE ADJUSTER (SEE FIGURE 1) TO SYCHRONISE THE CHUFFER WITH THE MOVEMENT OF THE TRAIN (I.E WITH THE LOCO CREEPING ALONG ADJUST CONTROL SO CHUFFER JUST STARTS TO CHUFF) DON’T WORRY IF YOU TURN TOO FAR AND IT HAS A VERY FAST CHUFF JUST TURN THE OTHER WAY AND THE CHUFF WILL SO DOWN AGAIN

7. ONCE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE CHUFF RATE AT SLOW SPEED TURN UP THE SPEED ON YOUR CONTROLLER AND THE CHUFFER WILL SPEED UP AS WELL.

8. ADJUST THE OTHER ADJUSTER FOR THE DESIRED VOLUME REMEMBER ONCE YOU HAVE FITTED ALL IN THE WAGON OR TENDER THE VOLUME MAY NOT BE LOUD ENOUGH SO ALLOW A BIT EXTRA.

9. ALL THAT NOW REMAINS IS TO FIT THE MODULE INTO THE DESIRED WAGON OR TENDER AND HAPPY CHUFFING
